Refrigerator door difficult to open

Default Refrigerator door difficult to open
Brand: Other
Model Number: Subzero 550
Age: More than 10 years
The door on my SubZero model 550 (circa 1989) is difficult to open it feels as if you are fighting a strong vaccuum. Does anyone know if there is some sort of air release valve in this unit. The gasket is in good shape and looks clean which seems to rule out the gasket sticking but maybe a new gasket is more compliant. Any help wold be appreciated. Thanks
