Unhappy Refrigerator does not get cold
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: gss201epaww
Age: 1 - 4 years

The refigerator side of unit does not get cold. The freezer side stays somewhat cold, but does not freeze. Any help in determining the part and how to replace it? This is the second time for this problem in the last two years.

What was wrong the first time it happened?

Check the coils behind the back panel in the freezer. If they are iced up, it's your defrost system. Defrost timer, heater or thermostat.

Fan in freezer work?

Fan under fridge work?

Compressor under fridge running?

Harryf,

your situation is eerily similar to mine...how did u fix it? I have replaced motherboard and thermostat as timer is in motherboard...only thing left in defrost system is heater...

Thanks,
Sonia - a fellow GE victim
