I just removed the trim last evening. the front cover says "kenmore" just above the sliding switch. My model has water and ice on left and the light switch on right. Pry with fingers about a third of the way in from each end. It popped off. take out four screws and the switch assembly comes out.

Mine is not like yours. It does not have the sliding switch. It is all push button. Thank you for the attempt to help. Best regards, ohioron

I have the same problem but mine is a kitchenaid frig. Mine does not dispence ice or water. It does make ice and the filter is new. The power has gone off in the house several times. I called the Kitchen Aid company and they told me to un plug it for 30 minutes and then re plug it in. That did not work. so now I think it might be some witch in the despenser unit that sounds like what your looking for. Did you ever get it off?

I have little experience on this but this is what i found. My kenmore is newer but has push buttons. it has two slots on the bottom of the trim. I had to pry with a screwdriver harder than I was conferrable with then it popped off "there are other post's about removing this look around". First i listened for the switch click and did not hear any so i took the cover off and found a plastic sub assembly which holds the switch was broken My model is 106.5666500 you can go to the sears parts web site and compare Welcome to the Parts Store
