After auto defrost has finished water re-freezes due to drain tube freezing up. Several manual 2 day defrosts to clear tube of ice. Tube freezes every time and block ice builds up in bottom of freezer compartment. Is their a heater near the tube? How to access if so? Tried new defrost timer thinking defrost timer was bad causing to short defrost heater time. Any Ideas?

Thanks

Remove back panel of freezer and try to locate drain, usually in the middle. Use a turkey baster and keep pumping hot water there to unfreez drain. Once cleared if yo have a metal defrost heater you can wrap a piece of copper or alluminum heavy gauge wire around the heater and down the drain to prevent future freezing.

Thanks for the info, After a 2 day manual defrost all the water runs out. I'm trying to figure out what has changed since the unit was new? Was this tube orginally coated with some sort of sheeting agent that won't allow water to cling inside the tube thus allowing all the water to drain below the freezing point? I have heard of other similar units having the same problrm as all the houses in the area were built and furnished by the same builder. I hate to discard fridge because of this small problem that makes the unit non usable.

Thakns
Phil

The strofoam around drain is now soaked with water so it is easier for the area to freeze.
