Default Hotpoint Refrig power shuts off
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: CSX24GRXAAA
Age: More than 10 years

Was working fine, no noises. Power went off. Unplugged and replugged, no fan or compressor, but I did have lights. Lights stay on for a minute and then shut off. Unplug and retry, same thing, lights come on only and then shut off after a minute with no fan or compressor. Cleaned all coils and have removed relay from compressor, all looks good. Help please... Thanks.

Default Update

I put the relay back in and now the light doesn't work either. The light did come on for like a minute before going out prior to this. Thanks.

Take the control panel off in the back refrigerator, and you will see a slot on the right hand side to put you screw driver in, that will be the defrost timer, turn it a little bit, and if it comes on it will be your problem. If not unplug the refrigerator and take the 1/4 inch screw holdong the whole panel in place out, and unplug the big molex plug, and put the whole assembly on the counter. Get the two wires that are going to the thermostat, and put them together, or put a jumper wire in the terminals, and put a little tape around it, so it does not hit any metal, then plug the molex plug back in and then plug the refrigerator back in. If it works, replace the thermostat. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
