Default Refridge keeps running
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: tbx21kmr
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a GE fridge that keeps running, it will not cycle. I have read that it may be the defrost timer. Where is it located? What else could it be?

Thanks Bob

If everything is running right , freezer temp 5 or 10 degrees and fridge around 36 degrees then It's probably the temp control switch. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Test the Temperature Control - ACME HOW TO.com

If It's just started this, your temps may begin or start to rise signaling an ice buildup problem. (defrost problem)

Default Better explanation

Thanks for the reply, I probably need to give a better description of the problem. The fridge is in my house in Florida, I'm in Ohio. Have a friend who checks things for me. The electric bill went way up, I had him check to see what was running.

He found that the fridge was running all the time. I had him clean it out and unplug it. The food in the freezer was still frozen and the refrigerator section was cold when he unplugged it.

He waited a couple of days and plugged it back in. It runs but now it is not cooling down.

I'm trying to diagnose the problem so that I can have the parts needed with me when I go to Florida for a week.

Thanks, Bob
