Default Over Chilling-Freezing
Brand: Amana
Model Number: DRS2663BW
Age: 5 - 10 years

This has been a great unit but it tends to start freezing up in the non freezer portion at the end of summer each year (now what the heck could cause that). I cleaned and blew out the coils recently and even though we turn it down it still is doing so. Some stuff on one side will freeze and the other not (all in the refrigerator part). Any suggestions??

One of your controls adjust a damper in a vent between the freezer and fridge where the cold air goes from freezer to fridge. If it is set all the way open it can freeze in the fridge. Make sure the control is adjusting the vent. close it a little.

Thumbs up

Any suggestions as to where it is? I just got it thawed enough to have to replace the onboard filter (5th time!!) in as many years. Or perhaps is it in the manual? Thanks a bunch!!

the damper may be controlled electronically thus your board could be involved. But anyway the vent should be at the top back of fridge and freezer. May be covered by plastic duct work or covers like the light bulb covers.
