Default Old upright freezer - move lying down
Brand: Electrolux
Age: More than 10 years

Hi,
Apologies if this isn't the correct place to post this, as it's more related to preventing repair than repairing.

Anyway, I need to move an old (probably 20 years) upright freezer. It won't be moving far (15 km's), and I would prefer not to have to hire a trailer as it will fit in the back of my wagon. From what I understand, it is advisable not to move fridges laying down, and if you do, you need to leave them upright for 24 hours before plugging them in. I also understand that the older the fridge, the more risky it is. Not too sure about freezers though.

So, what are the chances of the freezer not working correctly if moved laying down, if it is left for 24 hours before being plugged in? high, medium low?

Barring any damage in transit , it should be just fine. The longer you can leave it standing before plugging it in the better but 24 hours should be fine.
