Red face Oil Leak after moving it
Brand: Frigidaire
Age: 1 - 4 years

I purchased a fridge and when moving it scraped the bottom and caused some oil to leak out. I have not turned on the electricity at the new place and haven't yet plugged it in. Do you know what might have happened to it and whether it will need repair?

If it doesn't cool at all then you plug it in you probably ruptured the sealed system and lost your freon and some oil. The most exposed part underneath is the condenser and lines going to it from the compressor. It can be repaired by a qualified tech.

If I did rupture something underneath how much do you think it might cost to fix it? I just bought this $2000 frige for $400 and I'm worried it will cost a lot to fix it, maybe more than I paid for it.

Call for a repair estimate for repairing a freon leak and recharging the system. The price can vary from area to area. Just a guess at 3 to 4 hundred.
