Default Not pumping water for ice & water
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRS28ZGEW1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Water just trickles out of the water dispenser and doesn't make ice any longer.
I checked to see how fast water came out of the first water inlet valve with the water strainer (PS428495) and it was very slow. So I replaced it. Water comes out of it vigorously. After connecting the lines back up and calling for water at the dispensor, we waited for the airbubbles to clear and water came out quickly as it should but only for a moment. I replace the water filter and it game out vigorously again for a moment. I loosened and reinstalled the new filter and water came out vigorously gain. Almost as though there is a needed vent that's not allowing water to flow. I heard water refill a reservoir after replacing the filter. The ice maker is still not calling for water.
Got any good ideas?
UPDATE==============
I removed the filter and placed a cup below the open filter. I called for water in the door and it came out of the filter assembly vigorously. So it's clear the water slows down to the door from the filter forward.

Also, the icemaker water input tube was frozen solid. I took it out from the back of the fridge and ran warm water through to clear it. However it still is not calling for water.

===ANOTHER UPDATE==============
I removed the filter and reattached the filter cup. I found that water runs vigorously to the Second water valve (Dual Outlet Water Inlet Valve - PS428394) but only comes out at a trickle. I put the filter back in and it still ran vigorously to the second water valve but trickled out of the valve. So it looks like I need to order that water valve too.

There are two outputs from that valve. One goes into the bottom of the fridge and water comes out another plastic pipe cold and heads off to the bottom of the door. So I know where the water gets cold now -it is not at the filter like I thought. The other output pipe goes to the icemaker that's not getting any water. Anything else you can think of?? Is there a way to test if the green side of the water valve is working properly to send water to the ice maker? I lifted the ice maker water shut of up and down but it did not cause the green (or yellow) side of the water valve to hum.

Check the switches in the icemaker.

You can use a meter to check the continuity of the valves for the icemaker.

This will tell you if the solenoids are good.

Here is a link to your fridge model FRS28ZGEW1.

I replaced the second water valve too and water flows strong to dispenser and icemaker. The water valves are electromagnets. When electricity is applied, the valve opens. Before I replaced it, I sanded down the contacts. This fixed the icemaker but water still didn't make it to the dispenser. So try that before replacing the water valve.
P.S. when I checked the continutity of the valves, I didn't get a reading.... but the ice maker worked. strange.
