Default Not Cooling and Fan Running
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MSD2756AE
Age: 5 - 10 years

Looking for a little guidance on which part to replace.

Freezer and Refigerator are not cold. The fan runs non-stop. I do not hear the compressor kicking in at all. There is frost buildup in the bottom of the feezer.

Thanks in the advance.

Is it the fan in the freezer that is running all the time or is it the one by the compressor?

If there is frost built up in the freezer the compressor must be working.

If the freezer is cold but not cold enough and the fridge is not getting any cold air you likely have a defrosting problem.

To check the adaptive defrost control follow these instruction:

1. Make sure the compressor is running.

2. Unplug the fridge.

3. Open the fresh food door and remove any items on the top shelf.

4. Remove the light shield and the temperature control housing.

5. Using an insulated number 22 jumper wire short between L1 and test on the adaptive defrost control.

6. Plug the fridge back in.

7. The fridge should now be in the defrost cycle which will last about 23 minutes.

If the freezer defrosts then you will have to replace the adaptive defrost control.

If it does not defrost you either have a faulty defrost heater or defrost thermostat.

Here is a link to your fridge model MSD2756AE.

Thanks for the help. I replaced the Adaptive Defrost Control Board and that seemed to fix the problem.

I really hate this refrigerator. This is the 5th time this has broke. 3 of which were the Adaptive Defrost.
