Default Nonworking icemaker/? about infrared sensor
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 10655536400
Age: 1 - 4 years

I searched the forums to see if I could determine why my icemaker is not making ice. Water comes out of the dispenser just fine.

When I searched the forums, I found this thread:

http://forums.partselect.com/refrige...-ice-4152.html

The infrared sensor in my freezer is doing the same blink twice thing. My question is, what is the sensor supposed to do if everything is working normally? I looked in my owners manual, and it doesn't mention the sensor at all.

There doesn't appear to be any frost on it.

I have also removed the filter because it needed replacing about six months ago and that did increase the flow from the water dispenser. Last night I poured water into the icemaker to see if it would still make ice and I don't think it did (there was still a little bit of ice in the bin, so I may try this experiment again).

Edited to add that the water I poured into the maker didn't get turned iinto cubes. I can feel it in the bottom of the maker.

So if anyone can answer my question about the sensor, or give me any other suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!!

First make sure that the temperature in the freezer is 5 degrees or below.

Self-Diagnostics

Unplug the fridge and then plug it back in.

If the compressor is running when you unplug it make sure that you wait 15 minutes before you plug it back in.

You will then have 60 second to open the freezer door and 2 second to view the LED output code.

Ice maker check 3 pulses pause 3 pulses

Optics receiver 4 pulses pause 4 pulses.

Optics emitter and receiver 2 pulses pause 2 pulses.

All good 5 seconds on
