Default No water, plenty of ice
Brand: Whirlpool
Age: 1 - 4 years

I'm in need of some assistance. My water just all of a sudden stopped working. When I press the lever I can here contact being made with the motor, yet I have no water. I've change the filter, reset the filter....Even pulled out the rig to make certain I wasn't having a water leak. It sounds as thought it could be some sort of pump or cylinode issue. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please send to wayne.white@bankofamerica.com or wwhite9292@aol.com

Before you start changing parts, turn down your controls. The box might be too cold, and the water line behind your criper could be frozen. You might want to try to blow dry the plastic tubing behind the crisper to see if the water will come out. If you are technical, to know for sure if the water valve is good. Unplug the refrigerator, take the back off, and locate the water valve, and see which water line goes to the icemaker, and the other one will be the one that goes to the water dispenser. Take the plastic hose of the water valve. Depending on your model, you might have to push down on the flat piece, that sits up on the valve, where the water hooks to to release it. So take off that line, put the line in a cup, and plug in the refrigerator, and hit the water dispenser, and see if the water comes out in the cup. If it does, the line is frozen. Tom

It could also be frozen in the door at the dispenser. Try the same thing as the last post except disconnect the water line at the junction before it goes into the bottom of the freezer door.

This is a great thread -- explains it all. I was able to solve my problem with this... it was a little different, but the process helped me find it. (A bottle had falled down on the water line by the crisper and bent the tube. Thanks for your help. Great site!
