Default No water in ice maker
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KTLA22ELSS01
Age: 5 - 10 years

Last week I had a freezer-to-frig leak that I was able to fix, thanks to your forum. Had to pull out the ice maker to in order to pull off the back panel, where I found that the defoster tray was full, and was melting in the AM when the sun hit the appliance.

Now that I have reconnected the ice maker, there is no water getting into it. I waited the compulsory 72 hours, as noted in the manual, and still no ice. I'm sure I reconnected it properly, but I can't help but think that this failure has to do with pulling off the back panel last week.

My only thought is that the unit is not cool enough for the ice maker to start making ice again -- I think it must be at least 5 degrees or less to work??

Any suggestions? Thank you very much.

Manually put water in the tray and see if it starts cycling when it freezes and dumps.

Thanks woodchuck. I poured water into the tray last night; the water froze but the icemaker did not dump the ice. What should I try next?

Thanks so much,
acgypsy

If temp in freezer is 10 or below then ice maker is the problem.
