Question No ice, water works just fine
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 10651552101
Age: 5 - 10 years

Ice maker just stopped working. I read through all of the forum topics on this type of problem and tested the valve solenoid. I got 2 different readings from each solenoid (one for door water dispenser and one for ice maker). I thought it was bad, so I ordered a new one and installed it (2205762).

The water in the door still works (although noticeably louder) but still no ice in the machine.

I don't hear any noise like the solenoid trying to open, so I am guessing maybe some electrical problem from the ice maker to the solenoid?

checked the water tubing going from the solenoid up the back of the refrigerator and ending at the black rubber fill tube just above the ice maker and there are no clogs or ice build up.

I pulled out the ice maker and defrosted it, checked the for broken parts- nothing. Pulled off the face plate and checked the motor with the a volt meter set on ohms and it seams fine.

When I tested the heater assembly, I got no reading so maybe the heater is not working. My question is, would this keep the ice maker from filling? I would think that it would mean that it wouldn't eject but not sure if it would keep it from filling up with water?

Any help would be greatly appreciated since my wife has about had it with me trying to fix it myself

Thanks

I have now checked the freezer temp also- 13 degrees.

Can anyone tell me if the heater not working correctly in the ice maker could prevent the water from reaching the ice maker? Seams unrelated but then again, I don't do this for a living...

Need to hear something soon, wife is tapping the frying pan in her hand. Not really, but the sooner the better

thx

Oh my aching head! What happened? Last thing I remember is posting a quick reply to my original question and then WHAM! Must have been the frying pan.

Mother in law coming on Tuesday! I'm desperate! HELP

I have replaced the mold heater assembly (628228). Now the "ejector" (2194711) seams to be rotating constantly??? Could it be the mother board? I have replaced about everything else.

So, in summary: Water still working in door, no ice in ice maker.

Have checked:

Freezer Temperature- 13 degrees (checked with vegetable oil and thermomentor)
No blockage in water tube from solenoid

Have replaced:

1. Valve solenoid replaced (2205762)
2. mold heater assembly (628228)

I have spent over $100 in parts and hours reading posts but still no ice.

ANYONE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs down Forum? What forum....

I have about given up on this forum or I should say, me typing to myself. As you can see from the number of posts and dates of each, I have been trying for months.

Maybe I'm not submitting them correctly and I am to blame? Had I known this would have been the result of hours of reading posts and buying $100 + in parts, I would have just paid a repairman.

I think everyone here is looking for a quick fix for cheap (I WAS one of them). Time is money, how much is your life worth per hour?

I'll let this post sit for another week to see if anyone knows anything other than the "canned" 7 responses you see in nearly every post regarding this type of problem.

Your fridge does not have a motherboard.

Here is a link on how to test your ice maker.

Here is a link to the parts of your fridge model 10651552101.

I am still at a loss as to what is wrong. The ejector is constantly rotating when the ice maker is turned on? No water is getting to the unit so would this mean that the Icemaker Module and Motor Assembly needs to be replaced or is it the thermostat?

The heater mold assembly has already been replaced and the motor spins the ejector so I'm guessing that works. I can't figure another part it could be based on the symptoms.

Thank you for the response. Just say the word, and I will buy and install the part.

Thank you thank you thank you

-Bob
