Unhappy No ice or water since replacing water filter
Brand: Amana
Model Number: A5D2626HEW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Inherited refrigerator light came on to change filter, old owners left new PuricleanII Retractable Water Filter so I simply changed them out. Since doing that water and ice in door no longer work.

Was there a cap on the filter that you may not have removed?

Default water and ice not working since replacing filter

I took the cap off prior to installing new filter. Filter installed fine, reset light for changing filter but no ice or water. Is there a way to prime the water once installing new filter?

My ice maker has to be set to make ice, and can inadvertently be turned off. Is there a switch to make ice that may not be turned correctly?

ebeth3230: I had the same problem with my Amana refrigerator. I could hear the pump operating when I pushed the dispensing button, but no water (or very little) would flow. Finally I just held the button for a long time (3 - 5 minutes) and the dispenser began working properly. I'm guessing that air must enter the system when the filter is changed and that this has to be purged.

Thank you I tried holding water button down 3-5 minutes to release air, but nothing happened and lock button came on after 4 minutes.

Here's what I would try next. Take the filter out and don't close the chamber that it goes into. Hold a pan or something similar by the chamber. Now push the dispenser button. If water flows, there's some type of obstruction in the filter itself. If there's no flow, either the pump is defective or there's no water reaching the refrigerator. To check the water supply, first find the shutoff valve in the tubing that connects the refrigerator to a water pipe (these are often saddle-type valves that have a nasty habit of getting plugged with minerals and crud). Close the valve. Now disconnect the tubing at the refrigerator and put a pan beneath it. Have a helper slowly open the shutoff valve while you make sure that adequate water is reaching the refrigerator. If so, that pretty much narrows the problem down to the pump.

BOARD PROBLEM AT THE DOOR! Hold lock button again for 3 sec then try again.
If continue to lock automatic change dispenser pad.
