Here's what I would try next. Take the filter out and don't close the chamber that it goes into. Hold a pan or something similar by the chamber. Now push the dispenser button. If water flows, there's some type of obstruction in the filter itself. If there's no flow, either the pump is defective or there's no water reaching the refrigerator. To check the water supply, first find the shutoff valve in the tubing that connects the refrigerator to a water pipe (these are often saddle-type valves that have a nasty habit of getting plugged with minerals and crud). Close the valve. Now disconnect the tubing at the refrigerator and put a pan beneath it. Have a helper slowly open the shutoff valve while you make sure that adequate water is reaching the refrigerator. If so, that pretty much narrows the problem down to the pump. |
