Default No Ice from Ice Despenser
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: KSRG25FKSS04
Age: 1 - 4 years

I am having a problem where my ice maker is not despensing ice.

I tried switching the micro switch with the one used to despense water and that was not the problem so I am assuming it is the auger motor. I ordered a motor and I am trying to find out how to get at it to replace it. The motor is in the freezer door but there does not appear to be a way to get at it from the inside. There are no screws to remove the panel from the freezer door.

Does anyone know if I am supposed to remove the ice/water despensing unit from the front of the freezer door to get at it?

I would have had a tech come in and fix it but the last company they sent out charged me $300 and never came back to fix it.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

In order to replace the motor you work from the inside of the freezer door.

Remove the ice container from the freezer door. There is a release button on the right side of the container.

At the bottom of the motor housing find two screws. These screws are located in the housing that is still attached to the freezer door.

Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the four screws holding the motor in place.

Pull the hex drive shaft out of the motor.

To reinstall the motor remove the two screws in the hex drive shaft coupling holder and remove the coupling assembly.

In stall the hex drive shaft in the motor as far as it will go.

Slide the new motor assembly back into place in the freezer door and mount it with the four screws you removed earlier.

Make sure that the top of the hex drive shaft, spring, and pin are through the hole in the ice container plate.

Plug the harness connector into the motor. The connector will only fit one way.

Position the motor housing cover so that the raised center faces the motor and mount is in place with the two screws you removed earlier.

Make sure that the spring and pin are in the center hole of the hex drive shaft and that the bearing and seal are properly positioned on the coupling.

Position the coupling assembly over the spring-loaded pin, then push down on the coupling and align it with the top or the hex drive shaft.

Secure the coupling assembly with the two screws you removed earlier.

So after I remove the ice bucket from the door the only two screws that I can remove are #23 on the Motor and Ice Container Part diagram. Other than that there are no other screws on the freezer door.

Thanks for your help on this.

So if after removing the ice bucket, and the screws #23 shown in the Motor and Ice Container Parts diagram, I should be able to remove lift the assembly straight up out of the freezer door and change out the motor?

I had tried that to orginal get at the motor but it didn't seem to want to lift out. I may need to pull up a little harder but I wasn't sure if I was going to break it.

Thanks for your help on this.
