Default Need to replace a Defrost Heater
Brand: Amana
Model Number: BX21VL
Age: 5 - 10 years

Greeting to all,
All the information I've found on my Amana defrost heater identifies my Defrost Heater as that seen in the attached schematic, specifically item #43 with attachement clips item #33. I don't have that structure; what I have is the Condensor, item #53 but without the enclosure, i.e. the fins are open to the air, and the defrost heater does not have clips i.e. item #33. The bottom of the heater, item #43, has 2 channels the length of the condensor that the heater fits up into and my problem is that I don't see how it detaches. Many thanks to all who understand and even more thanks for the answer on how to remove this failed part.

ok first of all (no harm done) 53 is the evaporator and the diagram is kind of misleading; that is not a cover they just didn't fill in the fins, you are in the right place. You will have to look carefully the clips #33 are there, but cause of the channels the clips maybe hard to find. They should be 2 to 3 inches from each end.
