Default Need instruction to remove front panel for GE profile
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: PSS26SGPASS
Age: 1 - 4 years

I was having a longstanding problem with condensation and frost in the ice chute of the side by side. It would get so bad at times that ice would almost completely block the chute inside the door. I also had problems with water running down the front side of the door. AFter careful study of the problem I discovered that the rubber seal on the ice chute door (Door Recess ASM P/N PS964304) was curled and deformed. so what would happen is that warm and humid air would creep up inside the chute and freeze, therefore clogging the ice chute. I know what parts I need to replace, my problem is that I do not know how to get at them to replace them. I see no screws or fasters I can remove to get the front panel off the door so I can get at these parts. Can you please provide Repair and replacement steps to get at these parts inside the freezer door please?

Thanks,

To remove the trim on the dispenser there should be two slots along the bottom edge.

Us a flat blade screwdriver and pry the bottom edge out then push up on the trim and it should come off.

Once you have the trim off there will be screw to remove the dispenser parts.

Here is a link to your fridge model PSS26SGPASS.

I am sorry but there are no slots on the bottom edge. At least not on the outside of the frame. Are you referring to the inside of the frame? This is a stainless steel door with a black plastic frame surrounding the dispenser I cannot find any access point like a slot or something that would indicate where I can remove the frame to access the parts inside.

What you need to remove to gain access to the other parts is identified on the parts diagram as #93 not the trim piece #11. I think you will find slots there. On my refrigerator which takes pannels to match the kitchen cabinets the top pannel was in so tight that I could not move the piece I was trying to remove untill I was able to release the top track for the pannel. Once you get #93 (which is the control panel and has a printed circut board on the back ) off, it will still be connected by wires (turn the refrigerator off before you try to remove it) you will be able to see the 4 screws to get at everything else. Good luck.

I don't think you'll have to remove that panel. Most have screws holding the seal on. You can see when you peel it back in one spot. Post your model # and maybe we can find a diagram.
