Hi,

New poster to this forum. Hopefully, won't have to use it much if you kow what I mean.

Here's the deal:

My wife noticed the fridge is now room temperature. It is not working in any way, shape, or form. The freezer, on the other hand, is still working and blowing cold air. It, however, is now building up frost. I have to think those two things are inter-related. I can't help, I'm in Japan and she's in Arizona.

Ideas anyone??

The defrost system is not working.

The way it works is the refrigerator shuts down every so often and goes into a defrost cycle.

A heater comes on in the freezer section.

The heater runs until the frost is gone and the defrost thermostat opens.
After the frost is gone the refrigerator start running to cool again.

The only way the refrigerator cools is by air blowing over from the freezer section.
When the frost builds up in the freezer it starts to block the air flow to the refrigerator section.

After a while your freezer will start to warm up too as the refrigerator is running more all the time trying to cool the refrigerator section were the cold control is.

There are three parts to the defrost system.

1. The defrost heater
2. The defrost thermostat
3. The defrost timer

I could not find the model number that you listed.
I would guess that there are three more digits in front of what you listed and a dot (.)
