Brand: Frigidaire
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello everyone, this is my first post here; anyway I worked at Electrolux Home Products in greenville, MI that manufactured Frigidaire refrigerators; before the plant closed and moved to Mexico I got my dad a fridge; I don't know the model # off hand, but I can get it if necessary; it is a SxS; anyway, it is only a couple years old; here is what it does; it will work fine for a few days, then it will "defrost"; my dad said there will be water on the floor and the fridge side will not be cold; I guess after a period of time it will then start working again--it will get cold like it should; I was at his house the other day and it was working fine; the freezer said has never been an issue as far as I know; can anybody assist me; if you need more details, I can get them; thanks

Your drain tube must be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little air pressure will usually clear it out. Flush it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough. The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

When it's in the defrost cycle the unit does not run. It could warm up some then or the defrost cycle is too long. Can't tell with out the model number but it probably has an adaptive defrost control board which controls the defrost cycle.
