Question Maytag side by side refer not cool enough
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: msd2957aew
Age: 5 - 10 years

Refer side of this Maytag not cool enough. Freezer is Zero degrees and refer drops to 40 at it's max setting with the freezer turned down to it's lowest setting. There is an automatic air baffle between the freezer and refer that controls the refer temp that appears to be working correctly. The evaporator fan in the freezer section appears to blowing lots of air but compared to another spare refer sitting near it ,it doesn't appear that a lot of air is getting into the refer side . There is no obstruction in the way of the air flow. The doors are all tight. Is it possible that the evaporator fan has slowed down and not pushing enough air?? Compressor will turn off when the freezer temp reaches 0 degrees but the refer at this point is only 40 with the above settings. I am using a Maytag service manual to trouble shoot this problem but can't come up with a good answer. Bob form the Coast of Georgia

Check the coils in the freezer and see if there is ice on them.

Here is a link to your fridge model msd2957aew.
