Default Ice 2 O going crazy

We have the same problem. Thanks to these threads, we called the Maytag HD and they are sending some one out at no cost to us. We are about 2 months out of warranty. Well see how it goes, but please call maytag first and tell them the problem and that you are not happy about such an expensive frig breaking down.

Thanks for the instructions on how to repair for $3. (See above post from Michael.) It cost me $20.05 since I had to buy the soldering kit, but the clicking and blinking has stopped! THANK YOU!!!! Unfortunately, my water is still not working....not a kinked hose. We originally replaced the two larger capacitors. Any ideas on the water?

Default Which Board is the problem?

Which Board causes this problem? Is it the HV board behind the refrigerator? Is it the LV board on the left door behind the key pad? Is it the keypad board?

Thanks,
Lee

The "do it yourself" <$10 fix for the flapping and flashing mentioned earlier in this thread by michael5913 is available more directly at http//:www.liny.net/MaytagIce2O.htm I had to move it to a faster server due to its popularity, so the other link with the numbers in it won't work anymore.

The fix involves replacing the 2 failed power supply caps on the HV board - soldering required. If you can't solder, I bet you know someone who can if you ask around. Use this while you wait for the repairman to come fix it as it sounds like they are replacing some boards even out or warrantee.

Might be the difference between keeping the meat frozen in the freezer vs. having a mess by the time the repairman comes by.

Feedback I have received on people who've tried this has been positive, many have been surprised that they could do it themselves.

Read it and decide for yourself.

Default New Location for Maytag Ice2O flashing lights, flapping ice door fix

The updated location for the $3 fix michael5913 mentions is now at http://www.liny.net/MaytagIce2O.htm

The older referenced link with all those numbers in it will no longer work. I had to move this doc to a commercial server due to its popularity.

The procedure requires you to unsolder and replace the 2 power supply caps on the HV control board on the back of the fridge. Many have given me feedback they tried it (or found a friend who can solder to do it) and it's working fine. It took me under 1 hour, but I was also taking all the pics in the doc while doing it. Fridge is running fine since July.

As I see others reporting getting theirs repaired for free, this might be useful as a stop-gap measure to keep your freezer cold while you wait for the repairman to show up with the replacement board, or while you work on convincing Maytag to do this for free.

Give it a view - best case it works for you and you save the contents of your freezer, worst case you lose 15 mins to read it and decide it's not for you. The decision is up to you.

Email ID best to send feedback is (apologies for the anti-spam measures) MaytagIce2O at liny dot net (and that's an "Oh" not a "Zero" in Ice2O).
