Default Maytag freezing food in fridge, tequila in freezer
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: msd2142ar
Age: Please select

I have a Maytag MSD2142AR SxS. All of the sudden the fridge froze the milk, OJ, water that are stored in the front of the unit. The controls have not ever been altered.

The freezer completely froze my tequila?? Never has this happened. I have read other post about food freezing in fridge but getting conflicting info. No info on my model #.
Please help!!

Check the cold control. It may not be turning off when the set temp. is reached. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com

My previous post should have been on a Maytag MSD2142ARW. Series 13. Had a repair man service fridge on 3/25/08. We cleaned and vaccumed the area behind panel on fridge. It was extremely dirty. Replaced ONB (?) Hardstart. He tested the compressor and said we may not have lost it. While waiting for the unit to come back on, the repairman was showing us about the contol panel in the fridge where the fan is. A soon as he took off the panel the fridge started. Since then it seemed all was fine. Unit was even quieter than when it ran before. Opened up the freezer on 3/27/08 @ 7PM and there was water all over the freezer. We turned the fridge control to 0 and it started again. This morning it again was not running so we turned it to 6 instead of 5. It is running fine now but I think there is still a problem. I have left one package of frozen food in the freezer so all I have to do is touch that bag to see if everything is working correctly. Could it be the temp. control or does this sound like the compressor? How do you check the cold control?

KC
