Default Manually Start an Icemaker

Does anyone know how to manually start an icemaker? We replaced the selonoid (sp?) and water lines to the dispenser and icemaker. Eureka, they both now work like a charm. For curiosity sake, the instructions on the selonoid said there was a way to manually start the icemaker and to consult the manual. Of course, we do not have a manual.
