Default Loud motor
Brand: Admiral
Model Number: AT23M83V
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a problem that when the motor starts it is very loud (sounds like a tractor) and it takes a long time to shut off. The settings are 2 for fridge and 1 for freezer. Any suggestions?

If you are talking about the compressor, you either have a busted internal spring or compressor going sour, please post and try to explain the noise.

Thanks for your comments. When it starts up it sounds like the compressor. It sounds like a tractor churning. Sometimes the fridge runs for more than 20 minutes.

The future for this compressor is failure. Not a varnish/sludge issue but bearing failure. Have seen this before.
