Question Loose Freezer Door Handle
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GS6SHEXNQ00
Age: 1 - 4 years

Whirlpool side-by-side refridgerator. Freezer side door handle getting loose and I'd like to tighten before damage occurs. The problem is I can't figure out how to get at the inside of door to tighten screws. Normally you'd "pull-back'' one side of the magnetic seal to expose screws and go from there. The seal does not reveal any screws. Even asked at local appliance repair store. Is the seal attached with some sort of "plugs"?

Any help is appreciated.

You should be able to remove the handle on the freezer by pushing the handle up and then lifting it off.

This will give you access to the screws.

Here is a link to the breakdown of your fridge model GS6SHEXNQ00.

Smile Thanks Sheila

I must admit I didn't trust answer, to lift up on refridgerator handle, in order to remove it. I had done so without success.

A few days passed and I decided to try your suggestion again, this time with a bit more force.

Like magic, Off came the handle and tightening it was a snap.

Trust is a must.

Thanks Sheila

I had a very loose door handle on this older model freezer - so if this helps anyone - I was able to pry off a small decorative black plastic piece on the top part of the handle, and right behind it was the large Philips head screw, so just tightened that up! Pushed the plastic piece back in place as the glue was still sticky. Got lucky!
