Side by side--

In the freezer in the back just under the removable back cover is a trough the melted frost drips in. In the bottom is the drain hole. It's probably covered with ice and will have to be removed to see the hole. It may be blocked at the other end. Some air pressure may clear it out. Make sure it drains fast enough to let the water drain before it can freeze.

Woodchuck, Thanks for the quick reply. As you directed, I found the pan and the entire bottom of the freezer was thick with ice, pan included.Used hair dryer, found the hole, poured hot into it, looking good. I'll check back in a few days and see what it looks like. If I see ice, I may ask how to check the drain throughput. Thanks again!

Default Water leaking into kenmore fridge

Kenmore Coldspot model # 106.70209991

The ice on the bottom has reappeared. Seems to last about 5 days then the water sarts dripping again in to fridge. What do you mean when you say 'blocked at the other end'? I assume there drain hole goes into a plastic tube that goes down to the floor, where the evaporation tray is. How do I go about cleaning out the tube? I have not had the unit pulled out since I first got it, and I don't recall there being a tube running down the back.
Also, is there a more fundamental reason why the drain pain is freezing in the first place? Is it a matter of replacing a control inside the unit? Which part could it be? It is difficult to see the roof of my fridge from inside (mostly my age!) It appears as if in the ceiling there is a controller(defrost timer?), but not an obvious way to adjust it. Is it simply a matter of turning something? Would you guess clockwise or counterclockwise? Help!

If it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little air pressure (I've heard of using a straw to blow through or a basting bulb or a bicycle pump) will usually clear it out. Flush it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough so the water won't freeze before it drains.
