Default Leaking from somewhere in the bottom
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 596.57582790
Age: More than 10 years

I've got a Kenmore side-by-side, water-and-ice in the door refrigerator. It has been leaking water onto the floor but there is none pooling inside the fridge. My model number (Kenmore) is 596.57582790. It says the Manufacturer is P1309301WW (???). I had turned the settings down on both the refrigerater and freezer not long ago and noticed it was leaking. So I pulled it out and noticed a leak in back on the water line. I replaced the hose and it is not leaking from there anymore. And I have turned the water off. But it still leaked. So I turned the settings back up to normal. Now, the leak is not nearly as bad but it is still there. So with the water turned off, the only thing I can think of is that it is a problem with the drain -- maybe it is not draining the condensation correctly. The pan is not overflowing though. It appears to be coming from the left front area (the side with the freezer).
Can anyone tell my where I might find my drain cup? Or give me any more ideas on what might be causing it. The fridge is 11 years old.
Thanks!

Yes your drain tube is probably stopped up with ice because the bottom end of the tube is stopped up with dust and mold in the drain tube. Look in the freezer at the back bottom. There is a trough with a drain hole in it which you probably can't see because of the ice. Remove the ice and clear the line with air pressure and make sure it drains fast enough so it don't freeze again.

Default Thank you Woodchuck

I appreciate the quick response. I decided to go ahead and take the bottom back panel off the freezer portion. Noticed that the drain was there and appeared to be iced over just a little bit. The top 4 coils had a nice consistant icing on them but the bottom 4 did not. I de-iced the drain with a hair dryer and am waiting to see what happens. I didn't try any "air pressure" because I wasn't sure how I could do that (bicycle pump, maybe??). Again, I appreciate your answer. If you have any more insight, I'd certainly like to hear it, and I'll post the results if my de-icing worked.

I've used a tube stuck in the drain and blew on it. A basting bulb will force some air or liquid either one through it.

Light frosting is normal and it should melt it about every 8 hours.

Default freezer drain keeps freezing

After clearing the ice build up in the drain and made sure it was clean the drain frooze again in the freezer and water leaked in to the refrig. Can I pour some Castor oil or other antifreeze solution into the drain so the water wont freeze? It started after installing the ice maker. I have shut off the water to the ice maker. Its a pain to defrosting everytime. Is it ok to use the hair dryer to thaw ice in the freezer? Thanks for the help!

After you melt the ice with the hair dryer, pour some water into the drain and see if it drains fast enough to drain before it freezes. It needs to be cleared from top to bottom to drain correctly. It wouldn't do any good to add anything to prevent it form freezing, it just drains out.
