KitchenAid Ice maker issue Brand: KitchenAid Model Number: KSCS25FKWH02 Age: 1 - 4 years OK, so I think I've identified the problem with the icemaker and ordered the part, but now I'm having problems and have questions about the installation.
Here is a reference to work from:
The issue I have is that the piece that holds the gear in place (in the dashed area) is broken. I had to order the Icemaker Module and Motor Assembly, image below.
Included with this is part numbers 23 and 24. Pretty easy to pull the module off, it was a few screws. The shut off arm (part 31) was attached from the back of this unit, but I managed to get that off. I thought it would be pretty simple to just put the new module on, but thats where I ran into issues.
The end of the ice ejector (part 23) is shaped like a "D" (male) so it turns when the gear turns. In other words the inside of the gear is also shaped like a "D" (female). The gear itself is not suppose to be turned by hand, and it would seem to me that I would just have to turn part 23 slightly to line up the "D"s so I can screw the module on. The ejector (23) doesn't want to turn though. I'm not sure if its frozen in place or not or if there is something I'm missing. Is there some sort of reset for this part? Should it be loose if the gear module is not attached? I have not defrosted the freezer to work on it, figure it would be a quick fix.
The reason the piece broke is that the gear fits over a slotted piece and it seems the gear wanted to turn, but the ejector wanted to stay in place. the only thing I can think of is that something either jammed the ice ejector or the heat module went so the ejector could not eject the ice into the bin.
Thanks!
