Question Kitchenaid Ice Maker
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KSRG25FKSS16
Age: 1 - 4 years

the icemaker on our Kitchenaid refrigerator stopped working - water was not getting into the tray. I used a hair drier to heat the end of the water line and it has started working again. I was wondering if this is a common issue and if there is some part that is not working. If there is a part that needs to be replaced - what part is it and how hard is it to replace - should I call a repairman.
thanks -

Sometimes the water inlet valve will slowly leak letting the water continue to drip to the ice maker freezing in the tube. You can take the line off the water inlet valve to see if it's leaking past the seal. Check inlet valve here. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How to Check the Water Inlet Valve - ACME HOW TO.com

Sorry for the delayed reply - but thank you for the advice. So far - the ice maker has continued to work fine - Thank goodness I found this tip on the net otherwise I would have been charged at least a couple of hundred dollars to have an unnecessary repair done.
