the icemaker on our Kitchenaid refrigerator stopped working - water was not getting into the tray. I used a hair drier to heat the end of the water line and it has started working again. I was wondering if this is a common issue and if there is some part that is not working. If there is a part that needs to be replaced - what part is it and how hard is it to replace - should I call a repairman.

Sometimes the water inlet valve will slowly leak letting the water continue to drip to the ice maker freezing in the tube. Sorry for the delayed reply - but thank you for the advice. So far - the ice maker has continued to work fine - Thank goodness I found this tip on the net otherwise I would have been charged at least a couple of hundred dollars to have an unnecessary repair done.
