My Kenmore side-by-side (model 106.9517651), suddenly one day stopped dispensing cubed ice. It makes the ice just fine, and it dispenses crushed ice when called for, but when I push the cubed ice lever, it dispenses crushed ice just the same.

I took the ice bin out and cleaned it, thinking maybe a cube was caught somewhere preventing some mechanism from operating properly, but it still wont dispense cubed ice --only crushed (and I don't like crushed ice). What is wrong?

P.S. was purchased in 1992 and still works fine except for this.

This could be one of the switches in the front of the dispenser assembly or it could be a faulty solenoid in the ice bin.

The solenoid is beside the motor and change the dispensing for crush to cubed.
