Default Kenmore Refrigerator Cold Freezer, Warm Refrig
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 1 - 4 years

We just got a used Kenmore refrigerator - top freezer - 21 cubic feet (sorry I don't have the model number with me). It was a freebie from Craigslist. Had been sitting in a garage for 2 years and was used for the 2 years before that. It looks great - brand new, in fact, and the freezer got instantly cold. But the refrigerator is staying barely cool.

I do not hear a fan running nor do I feel any cool air moving from the freezer into the refrigerator.

A rather useless repair guy looked at it, and said "you should never get a refrigerator that's been sitting around". He gave vague reasons for us to just junk it, but did not comment on the lack of fan noise.

What do you think? Should we start over with another refrigerator, or is this salvageable? We spent $120 on getting it moved to our house, so it's still a bargain - even if we have to spend a bit more to get it running. But is it worth it?

Help.

Cold air enters the fridge through a damper or vent between the freezer and fridge. The evaporator fan in or behind the freezer blows the air through. There is an adjustment to open and close this vent to allow more or less cold air in. Verify that the vent is open.
