Default Kenmore not making ice
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 70209990
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Kenmore Elite, top-mount refrigerator that has stopped producing ice. A couple of weeks ago I got a plastic bag caught in the ejector blades. I removed the plastic bag and noticed a few days later that the entire ice bin was one solid block of ice. Emptied the bin and since then there has been no ice produced. Should I replace the entire ice maker or what should I do?
Thanks

Pull cover from icemaker and check the big gear, you may have broken it. If no gear, you have a modular icemaker. Get the service sheet out and verify power to icemaker and thermostat closed. Make sure your freezer temp. is below 15 degrees.
Pull the back panel and put 115 volts to the water solenoid for 9 seconds. Mold should fill up. If not check solenoid, water to it, or check filler tube in freezer for ice jam. Please post results.

Thus far, I have discovered that I have gears and it is not broken. The freezer temp is okay. Filler tube is not jamed.
Is the water solenoid where the lines carrying water meet at the bottom of the refrig. and then come up to the ice maker? I bet its the solenoid, because I added water to the tray, it made ice and kicked it into the bin.
What do you think, am I correct in this thinking?

Default ice maker issues

I have the same problem, been going on for some time now. I almost bought a new motor module but Im cheap and deturmined so I ran the following test:

-Jumper pins "T" and "H" with 1/2" stripped 18awg insulated wire while plugged in, flapper optic door closed (solid red light), door sensor closed (main bulb turns off).

-The motor will begin to turn slowly after about 2 min after the tray warms up. If you leave the jumper wire in the T/H positions for a full rotation nothing happens, it keeps rotating. But if you remove the jumper during the rotation it will trigger the water to dispense into the ice tray. I was able to eliminate quite a few possibilities here.

-I do not have a "stop arm" on my ice maker, ive seen other blogs that stress to ensure the arm is down. I can manage to rotate the collar that the arm would fit into, its spring loaded in the down position. I had to mimic a "arm up" position and back down to get the motor to rotate (Although I have not seen this documented anywhere else)

-looks like everything is going well then a couple hours later the motors plastic fingers are frozen in ice 180 degrees from the starting point.

-I hope this helps, please let me know what you have found and possible solutions. thanks

Replaced the solenoid and hooked everything up and it still didn't make ice and I didn't hear any water flow. One day it just started to make ice again.
Go figure
