 Kenmore freezer compressor not working? Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 253.9240411 Age: 1 - 4 years
hi! we just bought a appx. 4 yr old 20.6 cu ft kenmore frost-free freezer used. the woman said it was working fine when she took it out of her basement earlier that day, but when we got it home only the fan seems to be working. the inside temp has never been below 65, about the temp. of our basement. i printed out a lot of trouble-shooting info from the internet, my husband got to the compressor and it didn't seem to be running. he hit it with a hammer (hey, sometimes it works  ) and it seemed to fire up and ran for a couple seconds, but then quit again. there's no ice buildup to be seen, no leaking though it did drip a lot of water when we moved it in. a repair man said a compressor would run almost $400, we only paid $100. meanwhile all the meat we bought is stuffed in our fridge..can anyone help us? thanks!!!
