Connector which includes capacitor.... smokes upon plugging unit in..then shuts off the compressor

Is the thermal protection device just defective?

I have the unit outside and the temperature is about 100 F

Connector has 2 numbers 3ARR51B1F1 and 218721103

Probably have a blown start relay, a black box that plugs into compressor. Make sure all the wiring connections are ok in other parts of the box.
Weather not good for most exposed electrical stuff.
