Default Jenn-Air side by side leaking too

I have a similar problem. About once a month or two I find a fairly large puddle under my refridgerator. I thought ice was falling on the floor and melting. Not the case, I had a friend help tilt the fridge back so we could see the underside and it is leaking on the freezer side, on the outside (underside) between the outside case and the interior of the freezer compartment. Difficult to explain, but it's dripping slowly between the crease of the outer shell and interior. I don't think my fridge is opened frequently as I am gone most of the day but it seems to be happening more frequent. I don't know if it's because of higher humidity lately or what but I too am concerned that it's going to ruin my floors. I hate to pay 65 dollars for someone to come over and diagnose but I fear my situation will get worse.

Can you please supply your model number?

Look in the freezer and see if the is water under the bottom basket.

If there is your drain is plugged and you will have to take the panel in the back of the freezer out and run a stiff but flexible wire down through so the defrost water drains to the pan under the fridge.

My model number is JCD2389GES. Yes, I did find water under the bottom basket. I don't know how to take the panel in the back off. Are you talking about the panel on the inside of the freezer? If so, things seem very frozen in place and it does look icy in there too. Not sure where to stick the wire down as there doesn't appear to be a hole anywhere. If I cannot figure this out, should I consider defrosting the freezer manually by turning it off?

Yes it is the panel in the freezer at the back.

It should be held in place with some screws.

Once you have the panel off you will see the hole in the trough that the water drains from.

Here is a link to your fridge model JCD2389GES.

The drain trough is number 14 on the freezer compartment breakdown.

Gottchya, it's frozen over. Will a blowdryer defrost it? I don't see screws to take it out but I will seek some help of my handyman, maybe together we can figure this out. I'll let you know the outcome.

I did it!! I can't belive it...I feel so handy and appreciative of your advice. This is fantastic! I need to give it a few days to see if the leaking stops but I feel so accomplished and grateful that there are resources for "do it yourselfers" on sites like yours. Thanks again!!
