Default Install Question On Water Valve For Icemaker
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: PDS22SBNBS
Age: 1 - 4 years

Trying to replace the water valve for my icemaker, everything self explanatory except the following: when connecting the wire harness to the valve, there are 2 ways it can be connected. One of the ways is upside down. My question is does the white lead get connected to the left side of the valve (when looking directly at the posts on the valve), or does the brown lead get connected to the left side. Thanks in advance!

It does not matter which wire is on what terminal either way is fine.

Thanks Sheila,
Well, I must tell you, it sounds now like the icemaker is calling for water, it got some, but now the water isn't freezing, believe it or not. I know that right before the icemaker expels the cubes, the "tray" that they're in actually heats briefly so they can be ejected easily. Could that heater be stuck in the heating mode? Just so you know, I also unplugged the fridge for about 6 minutes thinking maybe it needed to reset or something. I know I'm grasping here, any ideas??

The heater would be disabled by the cut off thermostat on the ice maker if it stuck on.

Check the temperature in the freezer.

It must be 5 degrees or lower for the ice maker to work.

No luck Sheila, freezer is at -10 degrees (I cranked it up a little), still no cubes. The funny thing is, is that I hear the icemaker calling for water, but there is no water running in. To be more specific, it makes the sound that accompanies the water sound when it is running normally. Just the hum, no water sound. But still no cubes. Could the icemaker unit itself need replacing? I've checked for kinked lines, clogged lines, reset the fridge (if there is such a thing) by unplugging for about 7 minutes, then re-plugging, nothing. Any other ideas?? Thanks for your time, it is appreciated very much.

Your freezer is now too cold and freezing the fill tube in the freezer. Just pull out icemaker and thaw out the tube.

I'll try that, what's involved pulling out the icemaker?
