Kitchenaid icemaker won't stop making ice. It was stopping when I shut off the control that blocks the electronic eye, but this morning it was overflowing again. Looked at my neighbors Kitchenaid & I noticed that the light from the emitter & receiver will come on or go off (I can't remember which) when you block the eye. Mine doesn't. Could the problem be that the emiter/receiver is bad therefore not sensing that the ice bucket is full & continues to produce ice? Item is 80.00 so I want to be sure before I order it.

There should be a test sheet that is located under the fridge.

Remove the kick plate and look to see if there are instruction sheets there.

I found the test sheets. There really isn't anything in them about testing the emitter & receiver. It talks of modular ice maker test points the mold heater & motor but nothing about the emitter & receiver. I got the pn's & order the emitter & receiver today. Should be in tomorrow so I'll let you know if that was the problem.
