Default Not despencing ice
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JCD2289AES
Age: 5 - 10 years

I had a problem last week with the icemaker going on and off by itself.
When I took the front panel off, I discovered the solenoid that operates the ice door to be humming and was very hot.
I ordered a new solenoid which also came with a new ice door, a new spring, new roll pin, and a new foam barrier for the control board thru your site.
I have a few questions:
1) Where exactly does this roll pin supposed to go?
2) The new ice door is flat on 1 side, (instead of the 2 angled version on the old one) is this correct?
3) When I put the new spring on the door assembly, the instructions said to turn the spring 1/2 turn counterclockwise, when I tried to do this,(after putting the straight part of the spring under the little molded part on the assembly) the spring had nothing to hook onto in this position so I had to turn the spring 1 FULL TURN to be able to hook it onto the hole in the housing.
Which I THINK may be the cause of the problem:
The icemaker doesn't go on and off anymore since I replaced the aforementioned parts. The icemaker makes ice, no problem, the water dispenser works fine also.
But when I press on the door button to dispense the ice, the ice door only opens partially and somewhat vibrates, and there is a loud buzzing sound coming from the motor (or solenoid) and no ice is dispensed.
My suspicion is, there is too much tension on the door, from the spring being so tight, that is causing the problem?
I might add that I checked to see if the auger was working (yes), and the release lever to drop the cubes down the chute (yes), and the solenoid used to open the ice door appears to be working properly
I noticed that there was frost forming between the bottom of the icemaker, where it dispenses the ice, and also by the hole in the door where the ice chute is.
I then took out the whole assembly, dumped and dried it, and reinstalled it.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

I need help with my jenn-air icemaker, I had a problem with the solenoid motor last week staying on. When I removed the front panel the solenoid was hot!!
I ordered a new one, which came with a new door assembly. When I installed it the instructions said to turn the spring 1/2 turn counterclockwise, if I did this, there was nothing to hook the spring onto, so I had to turn it 1 full turn counterclockwise. After I hooked it all back up and tried it, it makes a loud noise when activated, the door appears to vibrate, and no ice is dispensed. I checked the auger and ice release rod and they appear to be ok. I might add that since I replaced everything I see a small frost buildup between the drop hole on the icemaker and the chute hole on the door of the fridge. Any help out there please?

It is possible that the heat from the solenoid has melted the dispenser housing causing an air leak thus causing the frost build up.

The noise from the solenoid is likely caused by the solenoid not being aligned properly.

Remove the fountain assemble and loosen the two torx screws holding the solenoid in place.

Adjust the solenoid so that the plunger is moving freely.

There is only one way to install the spring.

If the door is flipped upward out of the housing it takes a 1/2 a turn to hook up the spring.

If you are holding the door so it is in the opening of the fountain it would be a full turn.

Here is a link to your model JCD2289AES.
