Default Icemaker water leak
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: RSW2400EAE

I have a Maytag side by side with ice and water through the freezer door. Recently, I have water leaking within the freezer, dripping down the inside of the freezer door. Enough water has dripped that the small tray in the door below the opening for the ice dispenser (in the door) has filled with water and frozen.

I removed the ice crusher and bin assembly. The dripping has stopped. I still have a functioning water source through the door.

Does anyone have a suggestion on the repair/replacement that is needed? The ice crusher bin assembly? the icemaker?

thanks for your thoughts

It sounds like the water may not be shutting off as soon as it should and causing the ice maker to over flow a little.

This could be caused by a sticky valve.

can you give me an idea about what/where this part is? It certainly sounds like a better place to start than with a whole new icemaker

thanks

The valve is located at the back of the fridge.

The water line is connected to it.

Another thing you can check is the door flap were the ice is dispensed. Make sure that it is closing all the way. If it is not the warm air for the room could be getting in and melting the ice causing the drip.

Default Same problem

I think I've been having the same problems. I have a side-by-side Maytag (MSD2756DEW) and I replaced the ice maker thinking it was the problem of my leaking water/ice build up, but that was not it. The water looks to be leaking down the back of the ice maker tray and the ice is accumlating all the way down to the floor of the freezer. After I put in the new ice maker the fridge worked great for a week and then it started to go haywire again. Is this the same problem or something entirely new?

One more thing, the ice maker was freezing over and I had my ice bin in the freezer, when I went to get water from the water dispenser, after I was done getting the water a small amount of water would trickle out the ice flap. I don't know if that helps or not.
