Thumbs down Icemaker stopped & keeps freezing up & leaking bottom of freezer
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: GLRSF266JW1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,
We've been having some problems with the Fridge / Freezer that we took on from our homes previous owners.
First of all we notice water coming out, we thought from underneath, but then we realised that the water was leaking from the bottom of the freezer section, where underneath the last tray, water was getting in the bottom & freezing over. Eventually the watert overan the ice & out through the sealed door!

I pulled the Fridge / freezer out & found a leak from a pipe on the back of the freezer on the outside. I tightened this & it stopped some of the leak, obviously.
Pulling out all the shelves & bottom trays, I can see ice, building up at the bottom, behind the fixed panel .... This is obviously where the water is leaking from into the bottom & creating another ice block, beneath the lowest freezer tray.
Is it safe for me to remove the panel inside the back of my freezer to look at repairing this or should I consider getting professional assistance?
Due to the age - I'm guessing 5 - 6 years old, a similar replacement new, would cost about $800.
Also, we notice the icemaker stopped working since I'd pulled the freezer out to investigate ..... Pulling it out again, I fould the water pipe that goes into the top of the icemaker was no longer plugged in.
I plugged this back in, no more leaks underneath at all - As we also keep removing the ice from inside the bottom which now freezes over everyday. - but the icemaker is still not working?
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Al

Your drain tube must be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little air pressure will usually clear it out. Flush it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough. The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.
