Default Icemaker stopped but water dispenser works
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS25PGMBWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello-
My icemaker quit making ice yet my water dispenser in the door still works fine. There is no water getting to the ice tray and I don't believe the line is frozen, I've never had that problem before. The only thing I've done recently was take out the smartfilter and put in the bypass plug until I get a new one. Not sure if its correlated or not. In the days leading up to the icemaker quitting, I would have to go in and clear some ice that formed from overspilling of the tray and was locking the "swing arm" into full position to keep it from making ice. Currently with no water, when I turn it off and on, it cycles through a harvest (with nothing in the tray) and then the green light blinks. Do you think it is the dual water valve or something else?

Thanks!

Yes it is possible that it is your water valve.

Here is link to your fridge model GSS25PGMBWW.

You would need an ohm meter to do a continuity test.

Is there anything else it could be besides the water valve?

Also, actually after looking at the diagram, does the water that go to the icemaker even get filtered through the smartfilter? It looks like the two water lines go to different places on the back.
