Default Icemaker Overflowing
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ED22PQXDW02
Age: 5 - 10 years

It started with Ice Freezing in Icemaker.
I used Hair dyer to warm it up.
It stated to cycle again. but too much water
is coming in ,and is overflowing from the cubetrays
into the freezer.
I have had the icemaker out and took it apart a few times
but don't see a problem with the gears or motor
( possibly the heater is not working and won't melt the ice)
but that doesn't explain why too much water ??
I assume the inlet valve works because the water is flowing
the Icemaker control unit must be the brain that tells the inlet valve how much water to send

any ideas of what I should check next

Have u found the problem? Mine doing similar but no one is posting to either. I'm thinking the Ice maker is calling for too much water and therefor the module is bad. Did u ohm the water inlet valve? 200-500 is the range. Let me know what u find out.

Default ice maker over flowing problem

I would say the module on the ice maker is bad. Water level is adjustable on some modules theres a screw with a plus and minis next to it adjust for desired water level

With intermitten problems I find it easier to replace the ice maker assembly. It's an easy repair and not that expensive.

went to a site acmehowto.com
for more ideas, and the site recommended
how to test the control module
and my heater did not pass the test
The moduale was also sparking while going through the cycle,
so I just bought a new icemaker on e-bay for 40 bucks
have not installed, yet , but am sure it will solve my problem
