Last week I turned off the water supply without turning off the icemaker. The water line, as it enters the top rear of the unit, appears to be frozen. It also is fozen inside at the fill tube.

I was able to thaw the inside tube and outside line with a hair dryer but only get a small amount of water at the icemaker. It stills seems to be blocked so I then disconnected the water line (at the value) and tried to blow through the tube to see if it is was open. I was unable to blow the line clearly.

The solenoid valve does send water, as I left it disconnected through a icemaking cycle and there was water on the floor. I want to check the line at the top rear (where it enters the freezer) to see if it is clear but cannot disconnect it. It appears to be a plug with an O-ring but I cannot get it to move.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the fill line from the top of the refrigerator rear?

You can try swapping the wires on the valves to make the water dispenser send water to the ice maker to see if it's clear.

One reason for the freezing in the fill tube is that the water valve can have a slow leak and freezes as it slowly drips in the tube.

It can leak because of low water pressure because the pressure seals the water lines.

It can have low water pressure if the strainer( before the water goes into the valve) gets clogged with sediment. Or a problem with the water supply.

It can also leak if the valve it's self is bad.

The O-ring is a quick release which you slide and pull the line out at the same time.

I was able to remove the line, hit it with the hairdryer and finally poke the ice through. Now I just need a new red connector to re-attach.

If the quick connect is damaged now you can replace it with a standard connection. Check at your appliance parts store or search on-line.

The "quickconnect" is inside the external tube housing on the rear of the refrigerator. Can you explain a way to adapt another connection? Do I remove the internal piece and then adapt from there? I went to the local appliance repair/service vendor and they could not see my particular setup on their parts diagram search. ( I could not find it on the online diagram for my model either).
