My PSS26 is about 2 years old. The icemaker just stopped working when -- when the ice bin emptied its ice, we noticed no more was being made. The power light is solid green. I haven't measured the temperature yet to see if it's below 17F.
It has a horizontal paddle (shown in the photo below) that I presume starts/stops the ice production. It's tucked back near the ice tray. I guess when the augur turns, an abundance of ice would move the paddle toward the front (which would shut off the ice production)? Is that how it works?
Should I try pouring water into the ice tray (from an outside source)?
Having the same problem with my not-quite-3 year old PSS26. I think the paddle needs to be forward and then when the tray fills it pushes is back. When I pull mine forward I get one row of ice and then it stops. Still trying to find a thread that might explain the problem.
Thanks, Nikki. My icemaker behaves the same -- when I move the paddle forward, it produces one row of ice, then gets pushed back and stops producing ice. Still haven't found a solution.
Look at the paddle. There is a spring connecting it to the ice maker. The spring is a coil and then a vertical wire. That wire had popped out of the icemaker. I was able to click that spring back into the hole and the ice maker starting working again and you could immediately see that the springy-ness was back in the paddle. Hard to explain. If you want me to take a picture and post it, let me know.
Brilliant! I looked at the spring with a mirror, noticed that it was indeed out of the hole, put it back in, and the paddle now has its springiness back. Why didn't I think of that? Thank you, Nikki.
