Question Icemaker dead | Suspect Fill Tube
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: Profile
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello,
History
I've searched this forum and the GE site so I think I know the problem. I'm trying to get around having GE Service come in (as recommended on their site).

Problem:
* No ice being produced

Diagnosis:
* Water line works (cold water dispenser and therefore filter is fine)
* Manually put water into the ice maker mold = produces ice!
* Therefore, I suspect the fill tube to the icemaker is frozen.

From the GE Website:
"The fill tube going into the icemaker can freeze causing no water to the icemaker but the dispenser will still work. Icemaker must be pulled to verify this and will need to checked by a service technician. If you would like to schedule a service appointment"

Question: How can I do this myself/what do i do?

Any help - sincerely appreciated!!!!

-Rob

Default no ice

My icemaker has the exact same problem. I hope someone has a do-it-yourselfer answer. I'm going to have a handyman take a look and will let you know if he has a solution that doesn't involve major expense. Please let me know if anyone else knows how to fix this. Thanks!

Unplug the refrigerator, open the freezer door, use a hairdryer directed at the inlet hose to the icemaker. Warm it up so it thaws any ice build up, be careful there is no standing water (electricity + water = dead repair guy). Also make sure you don't melt anything with too much heat. A search of this forum will reveal dozens of threads with this same issue, and the solution mentioned above. There are also other checks you can perform to insure the solenoid valve is working properly and the water line is clear. Search other posts, you'll find ample responses. Good luck.
