Default Icemaker Auger
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MSD2556AEA
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

My icemaker (auger/motor) keeps running... I unplugged the fridge, then one side of the ice/water activation switch and replugged the fridge and the auger/motor still runs, I unpluged the panel fountain circuit board PS 106935 still no change, but unplugging the fountain control board PS 106939 stops the auger/motor.. (Well I unplugged the whole fontain unit)

I would guess it's the control board of the fountain unit?? But since that part cost $80.. I'd thought I ask to make sure, and or see if there is any other test that I could do with my limited exp. i.e. ohm checks????

Thanks for any info/help

Ron

Arrow I Ordered the Board

Just wanted to let all the helpful people here know that I removed the fountain control board and ohm'd the auger circuit, it showed closed on my first check, but on a recheck it was open.....

With all the help that I received here.... along with my checks, I went ahead and ordered the control board from Easy Appliance Parts... It was a bit cheaper..

Thanks again for all the help and info

Ron

Ron I am sorry you didn't get a reply to your issue. The control board on these units are not very good. They are very susceptible to voltage surges. This board causes a variety of issues to the water fountain/ice dispenser. I am glad to hear that you have the unit fixed but unfortunately I have to warn that you may revisit this issue again. I recommend purchasing the life time warranty on any maytag electronic parts. I have replaced my control board three times in ten years. Just a suggestion. Thank You.
