Default Icemaker acting wierd
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: D7824706
Age: 5 - 10 years

Ice maker (part #D7824706) on model 596.72913200 refrig. only works when I put the arm up, wait a few hours and then put the arm down. It dumps once, refills fine and unless I put the arm back up, wait and then back down, ice maker will not work. Works everytime I do the above within minutes of putting the arm down. Any ideas?

Default

I had one where I could drop the arm down and it would make a few rounds of ice. It wasn't making the switch when it went down on it's own. I took the cover off the ice maker and moved the switch a little by prying on it so it would make total contact. It works fine now.

Default Woodchuck may have solved the problem

Took cover off ice maker and removed three screws that hold the front gear mech., pulled it off. Found out that the contacts (almost like old auto contact points) had some burrs on it. Cleaned first with contact clearner then scuffed up the points (just like in the old auto days). Also pryed the contacts so that make a connect better. Put back together, pushed arm down and she kicked out ice within a few minutes and refilled. Now comes the big test, will it keep on making ice?
Will know shortly.

Smile Fixed

Cleaning the contacts definitely fixed the icemaker. Kicks out ice like crazy.

Thanks all!
